BACHOK 6 February 2024 I Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) receives a contribution totaling RM100,000 for the Early-Study Aid Programme from the Bank Rakyat Foundation to help alleviate the burden of students in the asnaf/B40 category.

The ceremony was officiated by the Chief Executive Officer of Bank Rakyat, Mr. Saiful Rizal Abdul Ghani who presented the aid to the Vice-Chancellor of UMK, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Razli Che Razak at the Chancellor Building, UMK Bachok, today.

According to Prof. Dato’ Dr. Razli, a contribution of RM1,000.00 will be distributed to 100 financially disadvantaged students to alleviate the financial burden of UMK students throughout their studies at UMK.

He stated that this contribution is capable of providing encouragement and motivation for students to study diligently and strive for excellence.

"UMK appreciates the noble efforts made by the Bank Rakyat Foundation, and UMK supports the aspirations of the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). The university provides a platform for agencies and industries to help alleviate the burden of students in the asnaf/B40 category throughout their studies.

"For your information, UMK has 9,909 students in the B40 category, which is 77.2 percent of the total student enrolment of 12,836 individuals. Meanwhile, out of this total, there are 912 students categorized as poor and 452 students categorized as needy," he said.

He warmly welcomes contributions from external parties, including various agencies and industries, to be extended to financially disadvantaged students.

"UMK sincerely hopes that initiatives like this will be continued in the future for financially disadvantaged students, with the aim of alleviating their burdens and providing a conducive learning environment for them," he said.
