THE ORANG ASLI VILLAGE OF POS BLAU HAS BEEN CHOSEN AS THE ADOPTED VILLAGE OF UMK

 

GUA MUSANG 15 February 2024 I The Orang Asli village of Pos Blau, located deep within Gua Musang, Kelantan, has been chosen as the adopted village of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) under the UMK Adopted Village Programme with the Pos Blau Community, today.

UMK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Razli Che Razak stated that Pos Blau was selected as UMK adopted village for the university's corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to assist the community there, particularly in enhancing local progress and economic development in the village.

He mentioned that Pos Blau was chosen as UMK Adopted Village to ensure UMK's visibility in the local area through the organization of various programmes, especially community-based initiatives.

“This programme also encourages community involvement and student participation, especially in empowering the talents and skills of students to address issues and problems within the local community.

"Throughout the 2 days of collaboration between UMK and the Pos Blau Community, several programmes have been conducted, such as the I-UMK Community Service Programme among children under the age of 12, which includes spiritual enlightenment programmes such as teaching prayer recitation, common surah readings, and so on.

"In addition, there was the 'Blau Comei Lotey' programme, which focused on beauty care among young women in Pos Blau. More engaging activities included the 'Suara Emas Pos Blau' singing competition and the 'Gomo Rakyat Blau' sports carnival," he mentioned at the UMK Adopted Village Programme Handover Ceremony with the Community in Pos Blau, Gua Musang, Kelantan.

Also present were the Members of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) for Galas, YB Haji Mohd Syahbuddin bin Hashim, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ismail, Director of the Department of Orang Asli Development (JKOA) for Kelantan and Terengganu, Ms. Zarina Razlan, Chairman of the Orang Asli Village Development and Safety Committee (JPKKOA), Gua Musang, Mr. Bakar Halim.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Mohammad stated that this programme is in line with the spirit of 'Semarak Siswa Madani', in which the university, through its students, always stands with the community. He mentioned that UMK will collaborate with the Galas Legislative Assembly office to plan programmes that meet the needs of the community. He extended his appreciation to the students involved, especially those who managed almost all of the programmes conducted.

“These programmes mark the beginning, and UMK will continue to organize other programmes that are suitable for the needs of the Pos Blau community. We express our gratitude to the Orang Asli Village Development and Safety Committee (JPKKOA) team for their support in making this programme a success," he said.
