KOTA BHARU, 30 October 2023 | Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), through the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED) at UMK Entrepreneurship Institute (UMKEI), has secured funding of RM66,000.00 from Bank Rakyat to support the success of the Bank Rakyat UniPreneur 3.0 Programme.
The funds for the Bank Rakyat UniPreneur 3.0 Programme were handover by the Head of the Kelantan/Terengganu Region of Bank Rakyat, Mr. Ghazi Omar to UMK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Razli Che Razak at the Senate Meeting Room, UMK City Campus, Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
Also present were the Acting Manager of Bank Rakyat for Kota Bharu Branch, Mr. Mohd Jafri bin Abu Bakar, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr. Mohammad bin Ismail, Senior Director of UMK Entrepreneurship Institute (UMKEI), Prof. Dr. Mohd Nor Hakimin Yusoff, and the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED), Dr. Mohd Safwan Ghazali.
According to Prof. Dato’ Dr. Razli, the allocation of the fund amounts to RM66,000.00 and will be distributed to 20 student entrepreneurs from UMK, specifically those from the asnaf/B40 category. This fund will be managed by 10 mentoring lecturers involved in the programme.
He mentioned that RM3,000 will be allocated to each of the 20 participants to help develop their businesses, and RM6,000 will cover administrative and programme management costs.
“The involvement of students in programmes like this will provide added value to expand their businesses and gain knowledge in the field of business and entrepreneurship," he said.
"Additionally, this programme focuses on building entrepreneurial skills, enhancing self-confidence, and fostering independent spirit in managing one's own business, while preparing student entrepreneurs to be more competitive in entering the job market in the future," he said.
He hoped that the financial assistance for businesses and entrepreneurship knowledge provided could help develop students' businesses, and UMK also aims to continue such programmes in the future.
