BACHOK 3 August 2022 I Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) through the Institute of Small and Medium Enterprises (ISME) signed a letter of Intent (LoI) with the Kelantan Orphan Welfare Foundation (YAATIM) at the Senate Meeting Room, Chancellery Building, UMK Bachok, today. The formalities of the LoI signing ceremony were carried out by UMK Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Razli Che Razak and the Chairman of YAATIM, Dato' Dr. Haji Abdul Razak Haji Kechik which aims to develop programmes and business activities to generate income for orphanages. Also present, the Senior Director of the Entrepreneurship Institute (UMKEI), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ismail, Director of ISME Dr. Dzulkifli Mukhtar, Director of CUIC Dr. Sharizal Sobri and Secretary/Chief Executive of YAATIM, Tuan Haji Mukhtar Ismail.
According to Dr. Dzulkifli, the collaboration is to hold community service consultations between UMK and YAATIM.
He said, this kind of cooperation makes UMK a government entity that is responsible for helping community development under the UMK for Society initiative.
"As you know, the strategic collaboration between UMK and YAATIM has already started with the organization of the YAATIM Economic and Business Activity Empowerment workshop by ISME and YAATIM which is located at Dewan Arafah, Rumah Anak Yatim Puteri, Taman Sabariah, Jalan Pengkalan Chepa, on 27 July 2022.
"This one-day workshop was held to help YAATIM organize economic and business activities to increase YAATIM's income as an independent welfare institution," he said.
According to Dr. Dzulkifli, the collaboration can also develop programmes and activities for business planning as well as increasing economic resources for the orphanage.
"Both parties also agreed to train and exchange expertise between UMK and YAATIM staff to improve the organizational management competency and cooperate in the preparation of grant application papers (if any) from the Ministry, Government Agencies and other providers.
