UMK ESTABLISHES INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION WITH ZARQA UNIVERSITY, JORDAN

BACHOK 11 May 2023 I Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), through the Faculty of Bioengineering and Technology (FBKT), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zarqa University, Jordan, to collaborate in the areas of research and development, academic programmes, and student mobility.

The MoU signing ceremony was completed by the Vice Chancellor of UMK, Prof. Dato' Dr. Razli Che Razak, and the Vice President (Administrative Affairs) of Zarqa University, Prof. Dr. Nidal Farid Eshah. The event took place today at Seminar Room 1, Chancellery Building, UMK Bachok, Kelantan.

Also present at the MoU signing ceremony were the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Nik Maheran Nik Muhammad, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ismail, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Ts. Dr. Arham Abdullah, Dean of the Faculty of Bioengineering and Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Azwadi bin Sulaiman, and Director of Education Malaysia Jordan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Radzuwan Abdul Rashid.

According to Prof. Dato' Dr. Razli, the collaboration between both universities focuses on knowledge and expertise sharing. It also involves research activities and matching grants for mutual benefits.

"UMK will also be signing several Memorandum of Agreements (MoAs) and MoUs with various agencies and universities from Jordan, including Jordan University of Science and Technology. This collaboration includes matching grants from the Faculty of Bioengineering and Technology (FBKT) and several other faculties at UMK. These agreements are seen as contributing to the academic advancement and effective research efforts of the university," he said.

Furthermore, Prof. Dato' Dr. Razli added that this collaboration demonstrates UMK's commitment to strengthening ties with respected international institutions, fostering a spirit of cooperation, and building relationships that transcend geographical boundaries.

He also mentioned that this collaboration can promote academic exchange programmes by creating opportunities for mobility, idea exchange, cultural understanding, and knowledge sharing among staff and students.

"With the research projects sharing, resources, and up-to-date knowledge, we can enhance the quality and impact of research outcomes, thereby addressing significant issues faced by the society. It is my hope that the collaboration between UMK and Zarqa University will benefit students, faculties, and academics on a broader scale," he further stated.

For your information, Zarqa University is a private university that specializes in various fields such as science, technology, economics, arts, and others.

The university is highly interested in establishing collaborations and spreading knowledge worldwide.
