BACHOK, 9 May 2023 I Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) has successfully maintained the MS ISO 9001:2015 certification for two consecutive years from 2021 to 2022, proving that the university is well-governed as well as showing excellent public service.
The achievement was accomplished by UMK in its efforts to establish UMK as the number one Entrepreneurial University in the country after the second Surveillance Audit Visit of MS ISO 9001:2015 at all three UMK campuses from May 7th to May 9th, 2023.
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ismail, informed that the purpose of this second Surveillance Audit Visit is to determine continuous compliance with certification scope, standards, and work processes within the service system, while also maintaining the MS ISO 9001:2015 certification.
"This audit involves all three UMK campuses to ensure quality compliance is implemented according to the requirements of MS ISO 9001:2015," he said after chairing the Audit Closing Meeting on behalf of UMK Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Razli Che Razak at the Senate Meeting Room, UMK Bachok, yesterday.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad extends his congratulations and appreciation for the commitment demonstrated by all the Centres of Responsibility (Pusat Tanggungjawab) in ensuring that the implementation of UMK's Quality Management System (QMS) complies with the MS ISO 9001:2015 standard.
"Thank you to the SIRIM auditors for their presence and the valuable feedback received. It will help UMK identify areas and opportunities for improvement to ensure the excellence of UMK," he added.
UMK will also undergo a recertification audit, which will be conducted 3 months prior to the expiration date of the MS ISO 9001:2015 certificate, around January 2024.
Meanwhile, the Chief Auditor from SIRIM, Ms. Hanida Binti Ghazali, stated that once again UMK did not receive any Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) this year, and there were only five Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) identified. UMK has successfully maintained the MS ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Before that, Prof. Dato' Dr. Razli, in his welcoming speech at the opening of the meeting, highlighted the importance of continuous quality improvement and emphasized the need to take steps and efforts towards improvement to prevent non-compliance from recurring.
For the record, UMK has successfully obtained the MS ISO 9001:2015 certification from SIRIM on March 19, 2021, and the University's Quality Management Centre is responsible for managing this certification at UMK.
The MS ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit Visit was led by Ms. Hanida Binti Ghazali and accompanied by Mr. Mohd Hisyam bin Mahadi, Ms. Kamasahliza binti Md. Sahair @Shahir, and Ms. Siti Roshaiza binti Ali.
