AMMAN, 16 May 2023 I Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) and Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) today for the collaboration in implementing the Malaysia-Jordan Matching Grants Project, which is expected to provide mutual benefits to both parties.
The MoA was signed by UMK Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Razli Che Razak and JUST President, Prof. Khalid I El-Salem and witnessed by the Malaysian Ambassador in Jordan, His Excellency (TYT) Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman.
The MoU will be a catalyst for efforts to promote collaboration in the field of research.
According to Prof. Dato' Dr. Razli, the Malaysia-Jordan Matching Grants Project is an initiative from the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia in collaboration with Education Malaysia Jordan (EMJ).
He said, according to Education Malaysia Jordan, the total number of grant applications received was 566 and Jordan University Science and Technology (JUST) only selected 29 projects for this collaboration.
"These Matching Grants are used to support collaborative research projects with external parties, such as international institutions that can provide expertise, resources or complementary networks for research projects.
"In this collaboration, as many as four (4) of the research projects are from UMK researchers. Through this Matching Grants project, it can help promote research collaboration, foster synergy and partnerships among researchers and external parties, as well as stimulate external investments.
"Alhamdulillah today's collaboration went smoothly and achieved the objectives set by the University in promoting UMK on the international stage and making UMK a leading Entrepreneurial University in the future," he expressed.
Also present were Minister Counsellor (Education) Malaysia, Assoc. Professor Dr. Radzuwan Ab Rashid, Director of the International Office of JUST, Professor Feda Yousef Al-Tamimi, and Director of Research at JUST, Professor Tareq Lewis Mukattash.
While the UMK delegation; the Director of the Research Management Division, Deputy Vice Chancellor Office (Research and Innovation), Assoc. Prof. Chm. Ts. Dr. Abdul Hafidz Yusoff and the Director of the Publication and Rating Division (TNCPI), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Asrul Hery Ibrahim.
