BACHOK 5 November 2023 I Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) needs the courage to explore collaboration opportunities between academic entities, industry, and the community at the international level and not merely focus on cooperation at the national level.
Tengku Temenggong Kelantan, as the Pro-Chancellor of UMK, Yang Berhormat Mulia (YBM), Tengku Tan Sri Dato' Haji Mohamad Rizan Tengku Abdul Aziz, said that UMK should boldly explore collaboration opportunities internationally, including in the aspects of students and staff recruitment.
Therefore, the internationalization agenda needs to be emphasized and expanded as much as possible. In addition, the university should also focus on ensuring academic quality and accreditation, which should be strengthened based on the development of higher education and the demands of the present time.
“In the pursuit of excellence, the University also requires benchmarking programmes," he said during the second and third sessions of the 13th UMK Convocation Ceremony at the Dewan Tuanku Canselor, today.
Also present were the Vice-Chancellor of UMK, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Razli Che Razak, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Nik Maheran Nik Muhammad, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Ts. Dr. Arham Abdullah. According to YBM Tengku Tan Sri Dato' Haji Mohamad Rizan, UMK also needs to provide conducive and high-quality infrastructure facilities to students, such as expediting the construction of the in-campus hostel for the students as well as information infostructure facilities such as internet access and online learning systems. All of these are crucial foundations to attract the interest of prospective students in choosing UMK as their educational destination.
“Therefore, in the effort to achieve excellence, UMK demands commitment and dedication from everyone in the university and strategic partners. I believe that through synergy among all parties, we can drive the success of UMK's vision and mission," he explained.
Meanwhile, YBMTengku Pro-Chancellor also expressed congratulations to the graduates who have received various excellence awards at the Convocation Ceremony today.
"These awards can serve as a boost of spirit and motivation to continue carving success, and don't forget to utilize your knowledge and expertise for the benefit of the nation," he added.
